Not All Auto-Pedestrian Accidents Dallas Happen This Way

A majority of pedestrian accidents are the result of the actions taken by the driver and not the pedestrian. Most pedestrian accidents occur at intersections when the vehicle is turning right. However, these types of accidents can occur in many different ways.

Pedestrian accidents include those that happen to people that are walking, jogging, running, or using wheeled transportation like bicycles, skateboards, and rollerskates. These accidents can occur on any road but are most common in neighborhoods and downtown areas.

Types of Personal Injury Associated With Pedestrian Accidents

It is easy to understand that the pedestrian in an auto-pedestrian accident is going to suffer significant injuries. The vehicle’s weight, size, and force against an unprotected body will cause many injuries. It is not uncommon for many of these accidents to result in life-changing or catastrophic injuries for the pedestrian.

The most common injuries associated with pedestrian accidents include:

  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Spine injuries, including broken or injured discs and injuries to the spinal cord
  • Broken bones – often multiple
  • Road rash, lacerations, and bruising
  • Internal organ injuries

Many victims of these accidents have multiple injuries from this type of accident. Most require extensive medical care and often need long-term therapies to recover from the event.
