5 Dead After Car Accident on Highway 110 in Smith County

On July 22, 2022, at around 5 am, DPS was notified of a fatal car accident involving two vehicles at Hwy 110 North and County Road 48. Upon arrival, police found a Dodge Charger totally engulfed in flames and a Chevy Tahoe that was close by that was smashed badly.

There were three people in the Charger and two people in the Tahoe. Police have stated that the accident is still under investigation. However, security cameras and witnesses had stated that the Charger was moving at excessive speeds down the wrong way of the road when it made a head-on impact with the Tahoe. The accident had no survivors.

What Happens In Car Accidents Where Everyone Dies?

Sadly, there are car accidents like the one above with no survivors. This does not mean, however, that the accident is not investigated.

Fault must be established in this type of accident because the at-fault driver’s estate can still be held accountable for wrongful death claims for the four other people that lost their lives in the event.

If there had been survivors who suffered a personal injury, the at-fault party would be held responsible for their injuries and losses. Since the parties died from the accident, certain family members can seek compensation for wrongful death. It will be important for those families to speak with a Dallas personal injury lawyer about the event.

How Can A Personal Injury Lawyer Help When Someone Dies In An Accident?

Dependent family members of the deceased accident victim have the right to seek compensation for the loss of their loved one. While it is understandable that most people do not even think about wrongful death claims at such a tragic time in their lives, these claims can significantly help families overcome the financial hardships of their loss.

A wrongful death claim can help you cover funeral and burial expenses as well as makeup for the lost income your family will suffer from now that your loved one is gone. Additional compensation may be available based on the facts of the case and the family member. Your personal injury attorney will explain to you the different types of compensation you can seek for your loss.
