A man driving a pickup truck suffered a medical emergency on May 25, 2022, and drove through a home near the intersection of Ross Avenue and Hall Street in the Old East Dallas neighborhood. The truck first went through a stop sign and knocked down a brick fence before entering the home.
It destroyed parts of two bedrooms, a bathroom, and the living room before continuing down a hallway, passing the third bedroom where the home’s sole occupant was watching television. Finally, the truck exited the house and stopped in the backyard. A neighbor caught the incident on a security camera.
An ambulance took the pickup driver to a local hospital for treatment, but he is believed to be in stable condition. The truck accident could have been much worse because the truck came within inches of the home’s fireplace. Authorities believe that the building would have collapsed if it had knocked down the fireplace.
Recovering After Dallas Truck Accidents
Thankfully, the homeowner was not injured in this incident, but that is not the case in many truck accidents. In this case, the police did not attempt to remove the pickup from the backyard until after the home was inspected, fearing the house would be further damaged.
The resident had to find a different place to stay, at least short-term, and the landlord ended up with an unlivable home. In both cases, they will have lots of expenses, including possibly rebuilding the house when building costs have skyrocketed.
The resident may also need mental health care to overcome the emotional trauma caused by such an incident. All of these expenses add up and that is why you need a competent Dallas personal injury lawyer on your side. When you are a personal injury victim, you must seek competent legal help as soon as possible.
