Pedestrian Dies in Dallas Hit-and-Run Accident

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s help after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident left 71-year-old Portia Dickens dead. The accident occurred on July 9, 2022, as Portia was walking along the 13000 block of Esperanza Road, near U.S. Highway 75, when the accident happened at about 9:30 p.m.

Friends of Dickens say that she had helped thousands to overcome substance abuse challenges. She usually lived in Sacramento, California, but had been in Dallas for several weeks visiting friends and family.

Police have released a photo of the brownish-gray SUV with a significant dent in the front that they believed caused the accident. The driver did not stop to render aid during the accident, and police believe that Portia lived for several minutes, which allowed first responders to get her to a local hospital before finally succumbing to her injuries.

Every Wrongful Death Victim has a Past Worth Fighting For

Dickens’s son said his mother had probably sponsored hundreds who were overcoming substance abuse issues. The last time friends and family saw her was at a substance abuse meeting, where she acted as a sponsor.

There is no doubt that her death will leave a massive impact on others, and they need to contact a Dallas personal injury lawyer to help them recover. They may be eligible to have the funeral expenses covered and receive funds for pain and suffering, along with covering Portia’s hospital bills.

A competent personal injury lawyer, like the team at Genthe Law Firm, may even aid the police in determining who is driving the SUV that the police want to question to see if they have information pertinent to the accident.
