On May 8th, at about 2:30 in the morning, a fatal crash occurred on the George Bush turnpike near the Midway Road exit. The car accident involved two vehicles. The driver of one vehicle died at this scene. No other injuries were noted.

Kyra Richardson, 23, was driving her vehicle heading west on the turnpike in the second lane from the right. After passing her exit for Midway Road, according to reports, Richardson stopped on the turnpike and backed up so that she could use the exit. While backing up, she entered the far right lane.

Upon entering the right lane, a crash occurred with the other vehicle. Ms. Richardson’s car was slammed into a guardrail and overturned her car. Ms. Richardson died at the scene. Investigations are still ongoing.

Many Dallas Car Accidents Can Be Avoided

Although a final determination has not been made on the above-stated car accident, it is easy to see that this car accident could have been prevented. Many car accidents can be prevented by following driving laws.

It is illegal to stop on a roadway and start backing up because you missed your turn. If you are operating a vehicle and miss your turn, you must go to the next exit or turn and either turn around or go to your destination from that road.

Sadly, a life was lost because the road rules were not followed.

What To Do When You Have Been Injured In A Car Accident

If you have been involved in a car accident that was not your fault and received a personal injury, there are certain steps you should take after the accident happens. These steps will help you protect your rights to claim compensation as an injury victim.

  • Notify Emergency Service You will want to have an official police report about the event. This will help you file a claim with your insurance company. These reports also contain very relevant information for your case.
  • Seek Medical Care Even if your injuries seem minor, you should go to the emergency room for an evaluation. Let a doctor check everything to determine the extent of your injuries. Sometimes that headache you got when the accident occurred is not just from stress. It is always better to be safe than sorry for your health.
  • Contact A Dallas Personal Injury Lawyer When you contact a personal injury lawyer right from the start, you will have protection as an injury victim. Your lawyer can help you through all steps of the claim process, including the interviews with the insurance company.
  • Notify Your Insurer Notify your insurer of the accident. Do not give any official statements until you have spoken with your attorney. Inform your insurer that you will provide them with an official statement once you have discussed the issue with your lawyer. You have this right.
