Drunk Driver Injures Two Women in East Dallas
A probable cause affidavit filed by Dallas police tells us 22-year-old Arianna Alvarez was speeding drunk around 8:30 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, March 4, when she crashed into a GMC Terrain SUV stopped at the Lakeland Drive light on Garland Road in East Dallas.
Four passengers were taken to the hospital after the Terrain flipped upside down from the car accident, two of them with serious injuries. The drunk driver is herself in critical condition and facing two counts of intoxication assault with serious bodily injury.
0;”>As it once connected Garland with Dallas, Garland Road is a six-lane highway and remains under the oversight of the Texas Department of Transportation. This limits the city’s changes to this dangerous speeding zone, although city councilmembers say they hope to address the issue.
Drunk Driving Can Cause Car Accidents That Kill
All car accidents carry the potential of severe physical trauma and long-term consequences affecting the quality of life. Injuries sustained can range from cuts and bruises to life-altering spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and disfigurement. These accidental injuries can result in extended hospital stays, rehabilitation programs, and significant medical expenses.
The financial burden of these expenses can be overwhelming, especially for families already struggling to make ends meet. A loss of earnings will mean further financial strain, too. In such cases, it’s crucial to recoup financial compensation, alleviate the financial burden and provide necessary medical care.
