Man Hospitalized After Fort Worth Hit and Run

Fort Worth police were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and Tierney Road on Sunday, May 8, 2022. The accident was a hit-and-run accident that involved an adult male pedestrian and a white Dodge Ram pickup truck. The pickup truck struck the pedestrian and fled the scene of the accident.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for examination. Police are currently searching for more information on the driver of the white Dodge Ram. The case remains open and under investigation.

What Happens With A Hit And Run Car Accident?

Dallas car accidents involving a hit and run are handled differently from a typical car accident. If the hit-and-run driver is not caught, then the injured party’s insurance may have to provide coverage for their injuries and losses.

As the victim, the first thing that you should do is contact a Dallas personal injury lawyer. Your personal injury attorney can review the facts of the case and investigate the accident to determine if the driver has been caught. If not, they can explore the personal insurance coverages you have to see what may cover the accident.

Your personal car insurance will often cover hit-and-run accidents, even if you are not in a vehicle when it happens. Many car insurance policies will cover pedestrian events. Additionally, your policy may extend to pedestrian accidents if you have homeowners insurance.

Thankfully, in most cases, the driver of the vehicle that fled the accident scene is caught. Witnesses and red light cameras can help identify the driver and vehicle, and they are held responsible for the accident.

Your personal injury lawyer will follow through with the investigation to find out if the driver has been charged with the accident so that they can sue their insurance company for your losses and damages.

It Is Never Okay To Leave The Scene Of An Accident

It is crucial to remember that you must stop and wait for emergency services to arrive if you are ever involved in an accident. Leaving the scene of an accident is against the law and will lead to serious charges against you when you are later apprehended.

Accidents can be terrifying, especially when a pedestrian is involved. However, leaving the scene of an accident will cause you severe problems, especially if the injuries to the victim are made worse because you left the scene and they remained unattended.

When an accident happens, stop your vehicle and call the police. This is the best and only choice for the situation.
