Retired News Reporter dies in Truck Accident in Dallas-Fort Worth

A retired Dallas Morning News reporter, Wayne Slater, died December 20th in a car accident near Florence. Slater was well known for his reporting on Texas Governors Anne Richards and George W. Bush. Slater also co-authored two books, one about Karl Rove and the other about President George W. Bush. The police reported that the vehicle he was driving collided with a pickup truck and that Mr. Slater died from the injuries. No further information was given on the cause of the accident or if any charges were being made against the other driver.

Dallas Truck Accidents Do Not Always Involve Semi-Trucks

When you hear about truck accidents, the first thing that comes to mind is generally not a pickup truck and a vehicle. Sadly, these accidents are more common than those involving a semi-truck. Accidents involving pickup trucks, especially those with smaller passenger vehicles, are very common in Texas.

Injuries received in any type of truck accident can be life-changing. For some, like in the accident stated above, the injuries can lead to death. If the accident was not your fault, it is only right that you should receive compensation for your financial losses from the injury. If your loved one died due to the accident, speaking with a personal injury lawyer about a potential wrongful death lawsuit would be crucial.

Types Of Compensation For A Personal Injury

When you have been injured in an accident, you may be entitled to the following forms of compensation:

  • Cost of medical care both present and future for the injuries
  • Replace lost wages and benefit
  • Future earning capacity
  • Pain and Suffering and Mental Anguish
  • Other expenses directly related to the accident and injuries

Speak with a Dallas personal injury lawyer about your case. You may be entitled to these and other forms of compensation based on the facts of your case. Your attorney can explain to you during your initial consultation exactly what types of compensation you can seek for your losses.
