Pedestrian Killed at Crosswalk in Arlington TX

On March 12, 2022, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the 400 block of N. Collins Street in Arlington. A 32-year-old woman was running across the street when she was struck by a vehicle. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police report indicated that the woman did not have the right of way when crossing the street and that the driver of the vehicle would not be charged for the accident. Police encourage people to use the crosswalks and obey traffic laws for crossing streets to help prevent this type of tragedy.

This Is A Unique Arlington Pedestrian Accident

A majority of all pedestrian accidents are not the fault of the pedestrian. Unlike the accident stated above, most pedestrian accidents occur when the passenger vehicle driver does not see the pedestrian, even if they are at a crosswalk. A majority of all pedestrian accidents happen at an intersection.

Pedestrians are anyone who is using the sidewalks and roadways that are not in a motorized vehicle. This includes people walking, jogging, running, using a bicycle or skateboard, or conducting any other similar activity.

Pedestrian accidents often involve life-changing injuries and sometimes death. The body takes the passenger vehicle’s direct impact, which can also throw the pedestrian during the accident, adding to the injuries. Sadly, many of these accidents result in death.
